In September 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction From Daumier to Olitski: Select Works from The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation and Family Collections, which included the work Back Streets, St. Thomas by Red Grooms. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,265.09), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Red Grooms achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 83,382.61).

Im September 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion From Daumier to Olitski: Select Works from The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation and Family Collections durch, in der auch die Arbeit Back Streets, St. Thomas von Red Grooms zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.265,09) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Red Grooms erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.500,00 (€ 83.382,61).
