Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary Indian Art, which included the work Untitled (Portrait Of A Parsee Lady) by Raja Ravi Varma. The price achieved of USD 104,500.00 (€ 74,213.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Raja Ravi Varma achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Damayanti) in March 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,692,500.00 (€ 1,582,071.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Indian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Portrait Of A Parsee Lady) von Raja Ravi Varma zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 104.500,00 (€ 74.213,48) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Raja Ravi Varma erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Damayanti) im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.692.500,00 (€ 1.582.071,42).
