Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Untitled; Self Portrait: Artist And Tools by Pushpamala N. was auctioned at Christies in Mumbai in December 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - INR 80,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at INR 300,000.00 (€ 3,527.11). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pushpamala N. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Phantom Lady or Kismet: A Photo-Romance in September last year with an auction result of USD 37,800.00 (€ 38,638.45).
