This artwork by Pieter Huys achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2007. In the Old Master and British Pictures auction, the work The Descent Into Limbo sold for GBP 78,500.00 (€ 106,668.18) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Pieter Huys; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Temptation Of St. Anthony sold at auction in June 2011 with the realized price of USD 206,500.00 (€ 142,188.25).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Pieter Huys erzielte im Dezember 2007 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and British Pictures wurde die Arbeit The Descent Into Limbo für GBP 78.500,00 (€ 106.668,18) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Pieter Huys; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Temptation Of St. Anthony im Juni 2011 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 206.500,00 (€ 142.188,25).
