This artwork by Pieter Bruegel the Elder achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2015. In the Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours auction, the work A village with a group of trees and a mule sold for GBP 1,082,500.00 (€ 1,534,621.42) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Bruegel the Elder - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Drunkard pushed into the Pigsty, which sold at auction in July 2002 for GBP 3,306,650.00 (€ 5,274,235.02).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Pieter Bruegel the Elder erzielte im Juli 2015 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours wurde die Arbeit A village with a group of trees and a mule für GBP 1.082.500,00 (€ 1.534.621,42) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Pieter Bruegel the Elder mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Drunkard pushed into the Pigsty beobachtet, die im Juli 2002 für GBP 3.306.650,00 (€ 5.274.235,02) versteigert wurde.
