Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work A young lady, in persimmon décolleté dress of satin edged with white linen shift, periwinkle-grey mantle over her left shoulder, pearl necklace, her light brown, curling hair upswept with tendrils by Pierre Signac was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2009, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at GBP 6,000.00 (€ 7,040 Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre Signac achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An important enamel miniature of Christina (1626-1689), Queen of Sweden 1632-1654, in white robes with black ribbon tied at neck, black cloak draped around her shoulders, her long light brown hair falling in curls in December 2003 with an auction result of GBP 58,555.00 (€ 82,935.49).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An important enamel miniature of Christina (1626-1689), Queen of Sweden 1632-1654, in white robes with black ribbon tied at neck, black cloak draped around her shoulders, her long light brown hair falling in curls im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktion
