Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Jason and Queen Hypsipyle with the women of Lemnos: a spalliera by Piero di Cosimo was sold in the Important Old Master and British Pictures (Evening Sale) auction at Christies in London in July 2007. The price achieved of GBP 240,000.00 (€ 356,455.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Piero di Cosimo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Madonna And Child Enthroned With Saints Onophrius And Augustine, which sold at auction in January 2010 for USD 1,202,500.00 (€ 866,979.09).
