Auction result misses estimated price range
In May this year a collector was able to acquire the work Le singe musicien (The monkey musician) by Philippe Rousseau for USD 20,160.00 (€ 18,922.47). This price was achieved in the auction Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philippe Rousseau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Les Pêches, which sold at auction in June 2006 for EUR 48,000.00.
Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E.
