Despite a disappointment, a good price for Philippe Pavy
In October 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work French In A Courtyard, Tangier by Philippe Pavy for USD 56,250.00 (€ 44,354.20). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, French In A Courtyard, Tangier is the most expensive artwork by Philippe Pavy that we have observed at auction so far.
