In December 2005 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures & Drawings, which included the work Roses, carnations, morning glory and a tulip in a glass vase on a wooden ledge with butterflies and a snail by Philip van Kouwenbergh. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,384.26), 68% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Philip van Kouwenbergh; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Still Life With Flowers In A Glass Vase With A Hoopoe, Plums And A Bunch Of Grapes sold at auction in April 2007 with the realized price of GBP 24,000.00 (€ 35,139.09).
