Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Guantanamo Queue by Peterson Kamwathi was sold in the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2019. The price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,974.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Peterson Kamwathi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (ECK) (from Sitting Allowance series) in October last year with an auction result of GBP 32,760.00 (€ 38,165.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Guantanamo Queue von Peterson Kamwathi wurde im Oktober 2019 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.974,51) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peterson Kamwathi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (ECK) (from Sitting Allowance series) im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.760,00 (€ 38.165,04).
