Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Blue Mountain by Peter Doig was sold in the British Art Evening Sale: Modern/Contemporary auction at Sothebys in London in June 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000,000.00 – 7,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,368,500.00 (€ 6,255,698.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Peter Doig have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Swamped in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 39,862,500.00 (€ 35,317,179.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Blue Mountain von Peter Doig wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion British Art Evening Sale: Modern/Contemporary bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000.000,00 – 7.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.368.500,00 (€ 6.255.698,09) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Doig auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Swamped im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 39.862.500,00 (€ 35.317.179,06).
