It achieved a price of GBP 4,080.00 (€ 6,058.93), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 36%. Admittedly, works by Peter Baumgartner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mother's little helpers in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 27,025.00 (€ 31,846.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 36 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Schlafender Soldat (The Resting Soldier) von Peter Baumgartner kam im November 2006 bei Sothebys in Olympia zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 4.080,00 (€ 6.058,93) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 36%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Baumgartner auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mother's little helpers im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.025,00 (€ 31.846,57).
