Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS, which included the work A view of Cader Idris by Paul Sandby Munn. The price achieved of GBP 587.50 (€ 767.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Sandby Munn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of the Pantheon, Stourhead Gardens, Wiltshire, which sold at auction in December 2020 for GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,234.18).
