Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Silicon Gloves (spaghetti man/tomato head hands) by Paul McCarthy was auctioned at Phillips in 17 - in July this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,048.00 (€ 2,765.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul McCarthy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tripod in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 2,045,000.00 (€ 1,836,551.41).
