A top price for Paul Jean Clays - as previously expected
In June 2016 Christies in New York held the auction Living With Art, which included the work Celebration of the Freedom of the Port of Antwerp, 1863 by Paul Jean Clays. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 1,800,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,000.00 (€ 36,258.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Celebration of the Freedom of the Port of Antwerp, 1863 is the most expensive artwork by Paul Jean Clays that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Juni 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Living With Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Celebration of the Freedom of the Port of Antwerp, 1863 von Paul Jean Clays zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 1.800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 36.258,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Celebration of the Freedom of the Port of Antwerp, 1863 das teuerste Kunstwerk von Paul Jean Clays, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
