Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Who Was It? by Paul-Charles Chocarne-Moreau was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,326.31). Admittedly, works by Paul-Charles Chocarne-Moreau have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work French Qui C'Etait? (Who Was It?) in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 71,273.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Who Was It? von Paul-Charles Chocarne-Moreau im Oktober 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.326,31) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul-Charles Chocarne-Moreau auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit French Qui C'Etait? (Who Was It?) im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 50.900,00 (€ 71.273,17).
