Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Deliciarum juvenilium libellus by Crispijn de Passe I was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,035.36). Admittedly, works by Crispijn de Passe I have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A nocturnal serenade in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,030.50).
