In October 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Cameroonian lampedusa by Pascale Marthine Tayou. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 68,750.00 (€ 77,528.79), 38% above the upper estimate. Other works by Pascale Marthine Tayou have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of EUR 88,575.00 in May last year for the work Chalks and pins U, 2012.
