Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sheet Of Studies For A Penitent Magdalen by Paolo Caliari was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,560.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paolo Caliari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegory of The City of Venice Adoring The Madonna And Child in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,505,000.00 (€ 1,609,069.89).
