This artwork by Otto van Veen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2003. In the Old Masters Pictures auction, the work Scipio fighting at the Battle of Zama sold for GBP 7,050.00 (€ 7,101.27) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Otto van Veen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Capture of Rome in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 728,750.00 (€ 817,088.99).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Otto van Veen erzielte im September 2003 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Pictures wurde die Arbeit Scipio fighting at the Battle of Zama für GBP 7.050,00 (€ 7.101,27) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Otto van Veen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Capture of Rome im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 728.750,00 (€ 817.088,99).
