Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Karl Knaths could be acquired at Christies in New York in March 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman auction, the work Gentleman changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,562.17) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Karl Knaths - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lilacs, which sold at auction in October 2007 for USD 34,000.00 (€ 23,500.14).
