Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A partridge, a goldfinch, a yellowhammer and a Red Admiral on a marble ledge in a niche by Ottmar Elliger the Elder was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2012. The price achieved of EUR 2,500.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ottmar Elliger the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Lobster On A White Porcelain Platter With Grapes And A Partly-Peeled Lemon, A Nautilus Cup, A Roemer And Façon-De-Venise Wineglasses, On A Stone Ledge, With A Snail And A Butterfly in December 2015 with an auction result of GBP 158,500.00 (€ 215,235.38).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 2.500,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ottmar Elliger the Elder erzielen.
