Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pope Paul V, seated, with his nephew Scipione Borghese, standing, both full-length in an interior by Ottavio Maria Leoni was sold in the Master Paintings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 30,240.00 (€ 24,919.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ottavio Maria Leoni have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Half-Length, Dressed In Pink in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 290,500.00 (€ 222,111.78).
