In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING LACQUER AND WORKS OF ART, which included the work White chrysanthemums by Otagaki Rengetsu. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,135.25 (€ 1,629.67), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Otagaki Rengetsu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Kyusu and Two Teabowls with a Poem, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 3,824.00 (€ 5,495.30).

Im November 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING LACQUER AND WORKS OF ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit White chrysanthemums von Otagaki Rengetsu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.135,25 (€ 1.629,67) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Otagaki Rengetsu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Kyusu and Two Teabowls with a Poem beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 3.824,00 (€ 5.495,30) versteigert wurde.
