Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work Turkish the Scholar by Osman Hamdi Bey for GBP 2,953,250.00 (€ 3,622,078.86). This price was achieved in the auction The Orientalist Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Osman Hamdi Bey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Young Woman Reading, which sold at auction in September 2019 for GBP 6,690,362.00 (€ 7,549,280.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April 2012 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Turkish the Scholar von Osman Hamdi Bey für GBP 2.953.250,00 (€ 3.622.078,86) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Orientalist Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Osman Hamdi Bey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Young Woman Reading beobachtet, die im September 2019 für GBP 6.690.362,00 (€ 7.549.280,55) versteigert wurde.
