Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES, which included the work The four-masted barque Grenada under full sail by O. Godfrey. The price achieved of GBP 376.00 (€ 539.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by O. Godfrey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Clan Macpherson Under Full Sail Passing An Iceberg, which sold at auction in May 2006 for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,926.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES durch, in der auch die Arbeit The four-masted barque Grenada under full sail von O. Godfrey zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 376,00 (€ 539,75) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von O. Godfrey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Clan Macpherson Under Full Sail Passing An Iceberg beobachtet, die im Mai 2006 für GBP 1.320,00 (€ 1.926,77) versteigert wurde.
