Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Jerusalem by Norman Janes was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 192.00 (€ 286.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Norman Janes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Blackfriars, which sold at auction in March 2003 for GBP 763.75 (€ 1,106.39).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Jerusalem von Norman Janes im Oktober 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 192,00 (€ 286,87) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Norman Janes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Blackfriars beobachtet, die im März 2003 für GBP 763,75 (€ 1.106,39) versteigert wurde.
