Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Danish the Port Of Algiers, With The Jamaa Al-Jdid And Jemaa Kebir Mosques by Niels Simonsen was sold in the The Orientalist Sale auction at Sothebys in London in April 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 44,629.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Niels Simonsen have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2016 the work Turkish sailors on watch was auctioned for GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,535.21).
