Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures including Selections from the Kelton Collection, which included the work The steamer ‘Honam’ at the Kowloon docks by Nicholas Chevalier. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,509.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Nicholas Chevalier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Swiss The Buffalo Ranges in August 2009 with an auction result of AUD 57,600.00 (€ 33,864.18).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Topographical Pictures including Selections from the Kelton Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit The steamer ‘Honam’ at the Kowloon docks von Nicholas Chevalier zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.509,66) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nicholas Chevalier auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Swiss The Buffalo Ranges im August 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 57.600,00 (€ 33.864,18).
