Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Nicolaas van der Waay could be acquired at Sothebys in Amsterdam in September 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Paintings, Drawings and Watercolours auction, the work An Elderly Lady Reading changed hands for EUR 813.00 - missing the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaas van der Waay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Een werkstaking: Strike of the Ballerinas in May 2010 with an auction result of EUR 40,600.00.
