In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work The departure sold for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,924.78) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolaas Riegen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A calm: fishermen inspecting their catch, which sold at auction in April 2003 for EUR 17,925.00.
