The price achieved of EUR 3,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Nicolaas Riegen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A calm: fishermen inspecting their catch in April 2003 with an auction result of EUR 17,925.00.

Die Arbeit Off the coast of Marken von Nicolaas Riegen wurde im Mai 2009 in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 3.750,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden.
