Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A fisherman by Nicolaas Mathieu Eekman was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2000. The price achieved of NLG 4,914.84 (€ 2,265.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as NLG 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolaas Mathieu Eekman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La jeune et la vieille - The young and the old woman, which sold at auction in July 2003 for EUR 4,541.00.

Der dabei erzielte Preis von NLG 4.914,84 (€ 2.265,26) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit NLG 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Nicolaas Mathieu Eekman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit La jeune et la vieille - The young and the old woman beobachtet, die im Juli 2003 für EUR 4.541,00 versteigert wurde.
