Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Nguyen Do Cung could be acquired at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction, the work Le Combattante (The Combatant) changed hands for HKD 87,500.00 (€ 8,900.41) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 90,000.00 – 110,000.00. Admittedly, works by Nguyen Do Cung have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tonkinese Landscape in July 2020 with an auction result of HKD 375,000.00 (€ 41,086.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Nguyen Do Cung konnte im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings wechselte die Arbeit Le Combattante (The Combatant) für HKD 87.500,00 (€ 8.900,41) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 90.000,00 – 110.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nguyen Do Cung auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Tonkinese Landscape im Juli 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 375.000,00 (€ 41.086,29).
