Auction result well in line with expectations
The work With a faint smile lighting up his gentle, foolish face, he began... by Peter Newell was sold in the Original Illustration Art from the Collections of Kendra and Allan Daniel auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,216.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Newell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work I weep for you,' the Walrus said..., which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 13,750.00 (€ 9,277.38).
