In January 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Outsider Art, which included the work Nellie Mae Seated on Bench, circa 1980 by Nellie Mae Rowe. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,625.00 (€ 5,070.77), 41% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nellie Mae Rowe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orange Mule Prancing, 1980, which sold at auction in January 2019 for USD 22,500.00 (€ 19,643.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nellie Mae Seated on Bench, circa 1980 von Nellie Mae Rowe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 5.625,00 (€ 5.070,77) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Nellie Mae Rowe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Orange Mule Prancing, 1980 beobachtet, die im Januar 2019 für USD 22.500,00 (€ 19.643,79) versteigert wurde.
