This artwork by Narritjin Maymuru achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne in August 2021. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Guwak (Night Bird), c.1965 sold for AUD 3,075.00 (€ 2,605.93) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 1,200.00. This high result makes Guwak (Night Bird), c.1965 the most expensive artwork by Narritjin Maymuru that we have observed at auctions so far.
