Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Composition by Morton Livingston Schamberg was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,216.68). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Morton Livingston Schamberg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Painting Vi (Camera Flashlight, Machine Still Life) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 775,848.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Composition von Morton Livingston Schamberg im September 2010 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.216,68) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Morton Livingston Schamberg erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Painting Vi (Camera Flashlight, Machine Still Life) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 965.000,00 (€ 775.848,21).
