Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Strip Search, Pollsmoor Maximum Security Prison, 2004 by Mikhael Subotzky was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in July last year. The price achieved of USD 1,402.50 (€ 1,374.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mikhael Subotzky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-portrait (with the help of optometrist) R and L from Retinal Shift in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,019.16).
