Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work Lindiwe Mutoma (Female Detective), Lusaka, Zambia by Mikhael Subotzky for USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,079.15). This price was achieved in the auction Postwar and Contemporary Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Mikhael Subotzky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Self-portrait (with the help of optometrist) R and L from Retinal Shift in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,019.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2017 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Lindiwe Mutoma (Female Detective), Lusaka, Zambia von Mikhael Subotzky für USD 6.000,00 (€ 5.079,15) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Postwar and Contemporary Photographs bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mikhael Subotzky auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Self-portrait (with the help of optometrist) R and L from Retinal Shift im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.019,16).
