Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Last Tarpon of the Day by Michael Stidham was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,600.00 (€ 3,040.03). Other works by Michael Stidham have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2004 by the work Permit in shallow water at USD 4,780.00 (€ 3,530.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Last Tarpon of the Day von Michael Stidham im Dezember 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.600,00 (€ 3.040,03) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Michael Stidham wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Dezember 2004 die Arbeit Permit in shallow water mit USD 4.780,00 (€ 3.530,80).
