In July 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Saint John The Baptist In A Rocky Landscape by Michiel I Coxie. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 39,650.00 (€ 47,674.66), 32% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michiel I Coxie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Emperor Charlemagne And Elisabeth von Thuringen As Patron Saints of Two Donors, Probably Guillaume de Bourgoing And Philippa Le Clerc du Tremblay, which sold at auction in April 2006 for USD 168,000.00 (€ 133,079.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 32 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2010 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint John The Baptist In A Rocky Landscape von Michiel I Coxie zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 39.650,00 (€ 47.674,66) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Michiel I Coxie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Emperor Charlemagne And Elisabeth von Thuringen As Patron Saints of Two Donors, Probably Guillaume de Bourgoing And Philippa Le Clerc du Tremblay beobachtet, die im April 2006 für USD 168.000,00 (€ 133.079,85) versteigert wurde.
