Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Zampognaro; Costume di Procida, Provinica di Napoli; and Costume di Carafagreci, Provincia di Calabria nel Rigno di Napoli by Michele De Vito was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 59.75 (€ 89.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Michele De Vito achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bay of Naples, Vesuvius beyond in October 2010 with an auction result of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,323.81).
