Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Michel Majerus achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Cologne in November 2021. In the Contemporary Passions auction, the work Zero sold for EUR 201,600.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michel Majerus - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work nothing is permanent, which sold at auction in September 2021 for USD 600,800.00 (€ 518,960.01).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Michel Majerus erzielte im November 2021 bei Sothebys in Köln einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Passions wurde die Arbeit Zero für EUR 201.600,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Michel Majerus mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit nothing is permanent beobachtet, die im September 2021 für USD 600.800,00 (€ 518.960,01) versteigert wurde.
