In November 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work Polish the Silk Merchants by Michal Gorstkin Wywiorski. The price achieved of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 37,343.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Polish the Silk Merchants is the most expensive artwork by Michal Gorstkin Wywiorski that we have observed at auctions so far.
