This price was achieved in the auction Important Australian Art at Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of AUD 600.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Michael Kmit; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Totem, 1956 sold at auction in September this year with the realized price of AUD 9,225.00 (€ 5,622.68).
