Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Prints including Property from the Collection of the Late Walter L. Strauss, which included the work Portrait of Albrecht Dürer (Hollstein 21) by Melchior Lorck. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,378.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Melchior Lorck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Albrecht Dürer, which sold at auction in December 2015 for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,882.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Prints including Property from the Collection of the Late Walter L. Strauss durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Albrecht Dürer (Hollstein 21) von Melchior Lorck zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.378,08) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Melchior Lorck mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of Albrecht Dürer beobachtet, die im Dezember 2015 für GBP 8.750,00 (€ 11.882,08) versteigert wurde.
