Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Sunbaker by Max Dupain for AUD 5,875.00 (€ 3,313.12). This price was achieved in the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS at Christies in Melbourne and was even below the estimate range of AUD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Dupain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunbaker, 1937 in August 2021 with an auction result of AUD 49,200.00 (€ 41,694.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2002 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Sunbaker von Max Dupain für AUD 5.875,00 (€ 3.313,12) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS bei Christies in Melbourne erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Dupain erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunbaker, 1937 im August 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 49.200,00 (€ 41.694,92).
