Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a Russian Soldier by Max Rabes was sold in the Important Silver, Russian Works of Art and Paintings auction at Christies in London in November 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,400.00 – 1,600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,434.00 (€ 2,058.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Rabes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Storytime in October 2005 with an auction result of USD 66,000.00 (€ 55,022.93).
